Borriva is operated by Borriva LLC, a Colorado limited liability company. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect about you, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights regarding your information.
Account information: email address, full name, password (stored hashed), and profile photo. Listing information: item descriptions, photos, condition, pricing, and approximate location (zip code and optional neighborhood — we do not collect or store your exact street address). Rental information: rental history, payment records, messages exchanged with other users, reviews, and damage claims. Payment information: payment is processed by Stripe; we receive limited payment metadata (last four digits of card, brand, expiration) but do not store full card numbers ourselves. Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, actions taken on the platform, and device identifiers used for security and analytics. Optional contact information: phone number, if you choose to provide one.
We use your information to operate the platform, facilitate rentals between users, process payments via Stripe, send transactional emails (booking confirmations, rental updates, account notifications), respond to support requests, prevent fraud and abuse, comply with legal obligations, and improve the platform. We may use aggregated and anonymized data for analytics and reporting.
Other Borriva users can see: your name, profile photo, bio, badges, average rating, and items you have listed. Users involved in an approved rental with you can see: your phone number (if you provided one) and the messages you send through the platform. Your exact street address is never collected or shared. Your email address is never shared with other users.
We share information with third-party services that help us operate the platform: Supabase (database hosting, authentication, file storage), Stripe (payment processing and customer management), Vercel (web hosting), CARTO (map tiles for the map view), Nominatim by OpenStreetMap (occasional zip code geocoding for non-Colorado zips), and email delivery services for transactional emails. Each service has its own privacy policy that governs how it handles your data. We share only the information necessary for these services to function.
We do not currently sell your personal information to third parties or advertisers. We do not run targeted advertising on the platform. We do not share your information with data brokers. If our practices change in the future, we will update this policy and notify users in advance.
We use cookies and similar technologies necessary for authentication, session management, and basic platform functionality. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking pixels. Some of our service providers (such as Stripe) may set their own cookies when their services are loaded on our pages.
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 90 days, except where we are required to retain certain records for legal, tax, fraud prevention, or accounting purposes (typically up to seven years for financial records). Listing photos, reviews, and rental history may remain visible to other users in anonymized form after account deletion.
You may at any time: access and update your profile information through your dashboard; download a copy of your data by contacting us; request deletion of your account and personal information by contacting us; opt out of non-essential email communications. If you are a resident of California, the European Union, or another jurisdiction with specific privacy rights, you may have additional rights including the right to know, the right to delete, and the right to non-discrimination. Borriva is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from a person under 18, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted database connections, hashed passwords, and access controls on our systems. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and you use the platform at your own risk.
Borriva is operated in the United States and our servers are located in the United States. If you access the platform from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the platform. The "Last updated" date at the top of this policy will always reflect the most recent revision.
